Couples usually ask the intriguing question, what is the best position to get pregnant? Scientifically there is an explanation that a certain position is more advantageous to your chances of becoming pregnant.
Basically intercourse is natural and does not need any instructions or guidance. The sperm swims upstream to the cervix, no matter which sexual position you adopt during love making.
Although some say that the research done is mostly theories, many people believe in following tips, strategies and techniques that have been considerably researched by scientists.
Couples adopt different positions when engaging in love making, and according to information available to them, they position themselves in different postures to achieve pregnancy.
Couples may have intercourse standing, sitting, reclining woman on top or rear entry positions, and think that position is the best position to get pregnant. For a woman to get pregnant the sperm of the male has to fertilize an egg produce and released by the ovary of the female.
The “rear entry” positio is considered to be a very good position to get pregnant. According to latest studies, adopting this position, the male is able to deposit sperm directly into the cervix of the female, thereby saving the male sperm time and energy and makes for the sperm to swim up to the cervix directly from the male organ.
Another popular favored position is the “side by side position”, in which the couples lay side by side which facilitates a near direct release of sperm into the cervix during copulation. Semen flow is maximized especially if the legs of the couple are at rest. Some couples consider this the best possible position for conception.
Sometimes it is difficult to conceive, if the position is not favorable as it is hard for the sperm to get near the cervix because gravity is pulling it in the opposite direction.
The question is “is there a best position” to get pregnant that supersedes all other positions: for couples who would like to be 100% sure to achieve pregnancy, there is a ‘best position’ that is considered better than any other position to achieve pregnancy.
The best recommended position is the so called the “missionary position” or the man on the top position, which is preferred over all other positions like standing, sitting reclining or woman on top position. The reason that this is the most favored position, is because the semen stays long enough in the cervix and swims up to fertilize the egg released from the ovary, with added help from gravity, because gravity plays a significant role in conception. Following copulation, it is suggested the woman lie for at least 30 minutes in the bed to maximize the chances of getting pregnant, and not jump up immediately for a wash when you are trying to become pregnant.
Some doctors even recommend placing an appropriate sized pillow under the woman’s hips during intercourse to make sure that the sperm stays long enough in your cervix to swim up.
Usually this is the simplest and best position to get pregnant, most favored by couples and recommended by doctors for couples that are facing difficulties in conceiving.
Apart from positions, there are other factors which will aid your pregnancy which are discussed below.
The more frequently a couple engages in intercourse, the greater the possibility of conception. Besides this, following some tested practices make the chance of getting pregnant much quicker.
Discontinue birth control. Women who routinely use birth control methods, pills, inject able contraceptives have a lengthier “readjustment” period, and the possibility of these women becoming pregnant immediately after stopping birth control methods is slim, as the period required for a woman’s body to become ready for conception may take as long as 10-12 months after stopping birth methods. But stopping the use of barrier methods has an immediate effect.
Obese over weight women face many obstacles in becoming pregnant. Obese women have irregular menstrual cycle, and fertility and conceiving is linked to the menstrual cycle. If the women are not menstruating normally, they are not ovulating every month, because of increased insulin levels in their bodies which affects the hormones in the body and brain.
A well balanced diet, high in anti-oxidants (e.g. fruits and vegetables) and vitamins are essential to achieve a quick conception.
Beans are an excellent source of protein, which boosts digestive health, making it easier for nutrients to reach reproductive tissues.
Eating food that has been grown using too many pesticides may be tied to pregnancy difficulties. This may be the right time for couples to start eating organic foods. Women should take folic acid supplement before trying to become pregnant. Folic acid reduces the risk of spina bifida and neural tube defects. Drinking and smoking should be stopped immediately because it affects cervical mucous that obstructs fertilization. Caffeine consumption (tea and coffee and soda) obstructs fertilization and also increases the risk of mis-carriage. Do not go on a starvation diet, bingeing, purging and yo-yo diets reduce your chances of ovulation and therefore your fertility.
Romantic love making makes conception much more pleasurable, every other day, rather than daily around the time you are ovulating.
If you you take the best position to get pregnant along with the above tips then there is no reason why you can’t get pregnant…..Best of Luck!
